Several Y Scouts team members share their favorite tips and traditions to lead through this Holiday season. We hope you find a good reminder in here, or maybe even get a year-end chuckle.
“Make sure everything has been checked off, communicated, and wrapped up with a bow before heading into the holiday – let your team know they’re incredibly appreciated, then leave them alone to enjoy the quality time with friends and family.”
“The holidays are not a great time of year for some people. To help alleviate some of the stress, take time to stop and breathe daily. I also encourage strong boundaries this time of year, remembering that the more you take care of yourself, the more you can give to others.”
“The holiday season is the perfect time to reflect and appreciate where you are at and where you are heading, by taking a step back and spending it with people you love makes it that much more special!”
“Be Present! (No, not the kind under your tree.) Things are so busy, sometimes stressful, and fast-paced. Take some time to take a deep breath, enjoy the moment, and be grateful for the little things and the people in your life this holiday. We never know what the next year will bring, so enjoy the now.”
“Invest time in recognizing the contributions of each person on your team in a way that means most to them. If you don’t know what that is for a specific person, ask them how they like to be recognized and appreciated!!”
“I started a tradition last year to source as many of my holiday gifts as possible from local businesses. In Phoenix, we have several community-organized pop-up markets to showcase local artisans.” @urbancookies @archwoodexchange @fairtradecafeaz
“One tradition that I love around the holidays is spending a day with my mom at her house making homemade Baileys! We make Baileys from scratch every year to help you and your families get through Christmas with the in-laws!”
“I always volunteer and give back as much as I can, whether it is with a food bank, bell ringing, or visiting a senior living home. Understanding that this season is about giving back and being a light to people. “
“One tradition I love about Christmas is the concept of being generous and giving to all. I also really enjoy watching Christmas movies with my family, specifically, “It’s a Wonderful Life”. It is a great message and always reminds me to be grateful for the things I have in my life, even when it seems like I’m going through difficulties or challenges. “
Happy Holidays. We will see you in 2020!
